Local Wood Fire Starters

These fire starters are created with a blend of pine and oak shavings chosen for their burn qualities. Pine catches fast and produces an immediate flame while oak burns longer and hotter allowing the fire to build without effort. The shavings come from a custom door shop in Penetanguishene supporting local work and reducing wood waste.
The wax base is clean paraffin which is non toxic and safe for open flame use. It coats the wood evenly and allows every starter to burn strong from beginning to end. A small touch of white cedar adds a natural forest scent as the flame rises.
The container is a repurposed two by two ketchup cup saved from a closing restaurant preventing it from going to the landfill. The wick is made from recycled cardboard shaped into a firm upright strip that lights easily and burns steady.
